Description

Overview

The HaseMed Kidney Dish in white polypropylene is a lightweight, shatterproof tray designed for the daily workflow of hospitals, medical practices, outpatient clinics and nursing services. Its classic reniform shape lets staff collect fluids, hold dressings, stage small instruments or catch irrigation solutions without the weight, cost or breakage risk of stainless steel or ceramic alternatives. Made from smooth, non-porous polypropylene (PP), the dish is easy to wipe down between tasks and integrates cleanly into hygiene protocols at the bedside, on the treatment trolley or in the preparation room.

Highlights & Benefits

  • Lightweight polypropylene construction: Comfortable to carry on rounds and on trolleys, reducing strain during long shifts.
  • Shatterproof and dimensionally stable: Tolerates accidental drops and busy ward handling without cracking or denting.
  • Smooth, non-porous surface: PP is odour-neutral and easy to clean, supporting visual inspection of residues between uses.
  • Bright white finish: Provides clear contrast for fluids, swabs and small instruments, aiding visual checks and documentation.
  • Chemical resistance: Compatible with common alcohol- and QAC-based surface and instrument disinfectants used in clinical environments.
  • Classic kidney shape: Curved profile sits securely against the body for fluid collection and allows controlled, directed pouring.
  • Versatile across care settings: Suitable for hospital wards, GP practices, dental and aesthetic clinics, outpatient units and home care.

Use Cases

  • Hospital wards and stations: Short-term staging of instruments, collection of body fluids and temporary holding of used consumables during patient care.
  • Medical practices and outpatient clinics: Organising materials for dressing changes, minor procedures, injections and wound assessments.
  • Operating theatre preparation and reprocessing: Catching irrigation solutions, rinses and small disposables on the sterile workflow periphery.
  • Dental and aesthetic practices: Holding cotton rolls, suction tips, applicators and small instruments during chair-side procedures.
  • Home and community care: Supporting patient washing, oral and denture care, wound dressing and medication preparation at the bedside.
  • Care and nursing homes: Keeping bedside tables and care trolleys tidy, hygienic and ready for the next resident.

Why Polypropylene?

Polypropylene kidney dishes bridge the gap between single-use cardboard trays and heavy reusable stainless steel. Unlike pulp trays, PP will not soften or leak when it comes into contact with fluids or disinfectants, and unlike metal it cannot rust, dent or conduct heat onto the skin. The material is inert and odour-neutral, which matters in wound care and oral hygiene, and its smooth finish leaves no fibres behind on instruments or dressings. For teams that need a dependable, wipe-clean tray that can be reused between patients under hospital hygiene protocols, or safely discarded when contamination dictates, PP offers a practical balance of durability, hygiene and cost.

Application

Prepare the kidney dish according to the intended use, empty it after the procedure and reprocess it in line with your in-house hygiene standard.

  • Preparation: Keep a clean, dry dish ready on the trolley or work surface before starting the procedure.
  • Use: Place the dish securely, with the concave edge towards the patient if collecting fluids, and stage instruments or materials as required.
  • Disposal and cleaning: Empty contents according to facility waste protocols; clean and disinfect the dish with a compatible surface or instrument disinfectant.
  • Inspection: Visually check for cracks, deep scratches or discolouration before the next use; replace damaged dishes.
  • Storage: Keep in a clean, dry area, protected from direct sunlight and sources of heat.

Important Notes

Compatible with common surface and instrument disinfectants based on alcohol or quaternary ammonium compounds (QAC). Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads and solvents not approved for polypropylene, as these can dull the surface and create microscopic grooves that complicate cleaning. Do not expose the dish to open flame or direct high heat. Inspect visually before reuse and replace any dish that shows cracks, deformation or damage. Follow your facility's standard operating procedures for cleaning, disinfection and waste disposal.
